A flag is a piece of fabric
with a distinctive design that
is usually rectangular and
used as a symbol, as a
signaling device, or
decoration. The first flags
were used to assist military
coordination on battlefields,
and flags have since evolved
into a general tool for
rudimentary signaling and
identification, especially in
environments where
communication is similarly
challenging. National flags
are potent patriotic symbols
with varied wide-ranging
interpretations, often
including strong military
associations due to their
original and ongoing military
uses. Flags are also used in
messaging, advertising, or for
other decorative purposes.
Flags can also play many
different roles in religion.
Many national flags and other
flags include religious
symbols such as the cross, the
crescent, or reference to a
patron saint. Social and
political movements have
adopted flags, to increase
their visibility and as a
unifying symbol. No matter
which branch of military flags
you seek to honor and
represent, American service
flags are a tremendous
reminder of the rich and
dynamic history of the United
States and the individual
struggle to protect it. The
family member who is in the
service does not need to be
stationed overseas in order
for the military flag to be
displayed. Businesses and
organizations may also display
United States military flags
or banners if they have
members who are serving the
Armed Forces. These are great
flags to hang up in the
garden, front porch, indoors,
outdoors, business, etc.
